Bymas: Former team Monte owes me tens of thousands of dollars

Bymas publicly accused his former team Monte on social media of unfulfilled payment obligations and a history of long-term salary arrears.

The Lithuanian player left Monte in early July after one year with the team to join Luminosity. He claims they owe him tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid salary, bonuses and revenue shares, including a share of the IEM Cologne Major team stickers that are still on sale.

"As far as I know, several former players and coaches are also still owed large sums of money," he added.

Minutes before this X post was published, Monte had just released a video in which its CEO Dmytro Vovk called out Bymas, afro and AZUWU, as well as their agent, criticizing the way the three joined Luminosity.

This Ukrainian implied that while contract renewal negotiations with Monte were still ongoing, these players concealed from the organization and teammate Gizmy the fact that they had already signed with Luminosity before the IEM Cologne Major.

The video did not mention any money owed to players or any other unfulfilled obligations, but the organization replied under Bymas's post: "Well written. Clearly vetted by an agent. A two-week salary delay is, of course, an extremely serious and painful matter."

In the post, Bymas also talked about his motivation for leaving Monte, noting that delayed payments were a "recurring issue" that never changed, which he said ultimately led to a breakdown of trust.

"Renewing means entrusting myself to an organization we no longer trust, one we cannot be confident will continue to meet its financial obligations, and with no guarantee that the same roster will stay together long-term," the 23-year-old player said.

When asked about this, Monte responded: "Those who violated the terms of the contract were fined. The claim of 'tens of thousands of dollars' is a complete and utter lie.

"As for the new sticker system, we could argue about it for a long time. But saying we owe them a share of the stickers is also inaccurate. It really depends on your perspective—who owes whom.

"And regarding payment delays — yes, they did happen, but they were not caused by us. There were delays in transfer fees, sponsorship payments, and so on. Everyone was kept informed of the situation at all times, and no player ever personally expressed any dissatisfaction to me or made any complaint."
