Damage in CS2: Advanced Guide

For example, the USP has 0.79 of Range Modifier. The bullet from this pistol deals 30 damage with silencer on 0 distance. The damage becomes around 2.66 at 250 units of distance:

30 * 0.79^(250/500) = around 26.66

The real-world distance in CS2 is 19 millimeters per 1 unit, so 250 units is 4.75 meters. The USP deals around 26.66 at this distance.

• Armor Penetration in CS2 is reflected in the percentage of damage a weapon deals to an armored opponent.

The M4A4 has 70% Armor Penetration. This means its basic damage 33 becomes 23.1.

• Penetration Power indicates the power of bullets to penetrate environmental objects, such as wood or bricks.

CS2 weapons have Penetration Power of 100% (most pistols, SMGs), 200% (assault rifles, Desert Eagle, etc), and 300% (sniper rifles). The bullets keep their damage better with higher Penetration Power.

In-game materials have damage loss values, around 0.5 for wood and 0.2 for bricks. The thickness of the material directly affects the damage loss, which makes the calculation quite complicated. • Fire Rate directly affects the total damage dealt in a shooting duel. With higher Fire Rate, you shoot more bullets and deal bigger damage.

The final damage is built by combining all these factors: hitbox (body part) multipliers, Range Modifier, Armor Penetration, Penetration Power, and Fire Rate.
