The Esports World Cup 2026 Paris marks the first time the world’s biggest multi-game tournament leaves Saudi Arabia. We’re breaking down the move to France, the format, what it means for Counter-Strike 2, and why this edition could reshape competitive esports. Here’s everything we know so far.
Why Paris? The Big Move Explained
On May 20, 2025, the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) confirmed that the third edition of the EWC will be hosted in Paris, France. The decision was driven by the ongoing situation in the Middle East, prompting a relocation announcement that surprised many fans expecting another Riyadh edition.
This makes 2026 the first EWC ever held outside Saudi Arabia. Paris was chosen for its world-class infrastructure, deep esports culture, and ability to host massive international events — the same city that delivered the 2023 BLAST Paris Major.
The tournament is co-produced by the Esports World Cup Foundation and ESL FACEIT Group, the same partnership powering the global competitive circuit.

What’s New in 2026
The Esports Nations Cup Joins the Show
For the first time, the EWC will run alongside the Esports Nations Cup — a nation-based competition where players represent their country instead of their org. Think of it as the World Cup of esports running in parallel with the club-based EWC.

Fortnite Reload Elite Series
Each game runs its own qualifying structure, but all championship series feed into the overall Club Competition — the meta-tournament where organizations score points across every title.
Club Championship Returns
The Club Championship rewards orgs that perform across multiple games, not just one. This format made the 2024 and 2025 editions wild — teams like Team Falcons and Team Liquid built rosters in 15+ esports just to chase the overall trophy. Expect even fiercer competition in 2026.
What This Means for CS2 Fans
The CS2 portion of the EWC has become one of the most prestigious non-Major events on the calendar. With Paris hosting, we’ll likely see:
- A return to a European production standard that fans loved at past Majors
- Stronger EU team participation thanks to easier travel and zero visa hurdles
- Massive viewership — Paris LANs historically draw record numbers
If you’re tracking the competitive scene, our cs2 tournament calendar keeps you updated on qualifying paths and key dates. And for the orgs to watch, check our breakdown of the best cs2 teams heading into 2026.
Teams Likely to Headline the CS2 Bracket
While the official invite list isn’t out yet, the usual contenders will fight for slots. Our deep dives on vitality cs2, g2 cs2, and furia cs2 cover the top rosters expected to qualify.
Format Breakdown
Each game at the Esports World Cup 2026 Paris follows its own ruleset, but the overall structure looks like this:
- Open qualifiers — regional online events through early 2026
- Closed qualifiers — top teams from each region fight for slots
- Group stage — round-robin or Swiss format depending on game
- Playoffs — single or double elimination brackets on the Paris LAN stage
- Grand Finals — live in front of a packed Paris arena
Club points are awarded at every stage, feeding the overall championship standings.
Prize Pool Expectations
The 2024 and 2025 EWC editions featured prize pools exceeding $60 million combined across all games, plus a separate Club Championship purse. While 2026 numbers aren’t fully confirmed, EWCF has signaled this will be the largest edition yet — likely matching or exceeding prior years given the Paris production scale.
Will There Be Paris Souvenir Skins?
This is the question every collector is asking. The 2023 BLAST Paris Major dropped some of the most iconic paris 2023 mirage souvenir package skins and paris 2023 ancient souvenir package skins in CS2 history.
The EWC is not a Valve-sanctioned Major, so traditional souvenir packages won’t drop the same way. However, autograph capsules, team stickers, and limited-edition charms are possible if Valve partners with the event — something we’ll be tracking closely.
In the meantime, you can browse the full all cs2 skins catalog and check existing tournament drops on cs2.ad.
How to Watch the Esports World Cup 2026 Paris
Official streams will run on:
- Twitch (multiple language channels)
- YouTube (EWC main channel)
- Game-specific co-streams from approved partners
Expect French, English, Arabic, and Portuguese broadcasts at minimum, given the global audience.
What to Expect From the Paris Venue
Paris has hosted some of the largest esports events ever — the Accor Arena holds 20,000+ fans, and venues like La Défense Arena can scale even higher. EWCF hasn’t announced the exact location, but expect a multi-venue setup running parallel game finals throughout the festival.

The Esports World Cup 2026 Paris isn’t just another tournament — it’s a turning point. The first edition outside Saudi Arabia, the debut of the Esports Nations Cup, and a massive showcase for CS2 on European soil. If you follow competitive gaming, this is the event of the year.
