Stunning Comeback! Valve Makes Exception to Allow BCG to Qualify for Singapore Major via Asian Region

The team has been deemed eligible to qualify for the Major through the Asian region.

Valve has updated its Tournament Operation Requirements exception list on Github, with one ruling allowing BC.Game to qualify for the PGL Singapore Major through the Asian region.

The update on Github reads: “BC.Game (asap, Magisk, mzinho, s1mple, Senzu) has been assigned to the Asian region and is eligible for a Major invite.”

One day before this exception was introduced, Valve had just adjusted the VRS region-switching rules, stating that "a roster is only eligible for a regional assignment if it has not appeared on the VRS list of any other region in the previous three calendar months." This means any regional change by a team takes three months to take effect, preventing teams from moving from a stronger region to a weaker region with fewer VRS points available as a last-ditch bid to qualify for the Major.

This change was made in response to Sashi's late switch to an Asian-core roster to qualify for the PGL Singapore Major, but it also hindered teams like BC.Game and WW. Valve said in response to an HLTV inquiry that these teams have been disqualified from Major qualification unless "they reach out proactively and find a solution."
