YEKINDAR: After FalleN retires, I might indeed switch to IGL

In an interview at BLAST Porto, FURIA rifler YEKINDAR analyzed the reasons for the loss to Team Spirit, discussed the division of responsibilities within the team, and shared his views on changes to the tournament map pool.

About the match against Team Spirit

YEKINDAR: I think some individual mistakes kept us from winning this match. This was especially evident on Cache: at a certain point, we started overreacting to everything happening in the game, and that affected our mindset.

About the Role of the Conductor

YEKINDAR: We agreed that I would be the in-game leader on Cache and Ancient. I've played Ancient for a long time, and Cache is a new map that FalleN has never felt very comfortable on. As for Anubis, I'll also take the initiative there. We made this decision partly because I might become the in-game leader after FalleN's career ends. But honestly, I don't really want that role.

About the Development of the Team

YEKINDAR: Honestly, we're a bit chaotic right now: we don't know how we want to play, who will be calling on each map, etc. Yes, we're still getting good results, but we still have a lot to improve.

About the Tournament Map Pool

YEKINDAR: Generally speaking, people practice the least on the hardest maps, like Train, Cobblestone or Overpass. On these maps you need to be methodical, take it slow, and gradually take control of areas across the map before going for the plant. I think we perform well on these kinds of maps. Last season, Train was removed from the map pool, and now Overpass has been removed as well. It has been replaced by Cache, which is of course a bit simpler.
