After narrowly losing in overtime on Nuke, Spirit remained unaffected and proceeded to sweep Vitality on the decider map Mirage, advancing to the semifinals.
Q: I'd like to ask about your victory today. Over the past few years, you've had a long losing streak against Vitality—I believe it was 6 matches. What was different today?
magixx:I think the pressure was starting to get to them. I saw an interview with apEX where he talked about the Paris Major, roughly saying that playing in front of a home crowd would be tough because of the added pressure. I think that also helped us win the match.
Also, they aren't as dominant now as they were a few months ago. We've been playing better than we did in the group stage. We have three days to rest, and my only wish for these three days is to step up my game.
Q: Could you specifically tell us what you did during that break time? donk mentioned that you knew where the problems were but would need at least a few days to resolve them. What were those issues?
magixx: Play better.
Q: Is that it?
magixx: Usually yes.
Q: I'd like to ask about Nuke's final moments. Do you think that HE affected the match? Was it easy to readjust afterward?
magixx: I'm not sure if that flashbang really affected the game, because I don't remember our defensive setup against their playstyle at that time. They executed a good pinch, and I also don't remember the exact positions we were in, so I'm not entirely certain about that.
But if you kill donk, it gets a bit weird. Even if he's down to just 5 HP, he might still get a double kill or even a triple kill.
Did you ever talk about it after that?
magixx: No. I just went back to the practice room and said to S0tF1k, "Did you see why I kept the grenade for the outside players on Nuke?" It was a weird thing, but it didn’t affect my mentality at all.
Q: Can you talk about Legacy? You've never faced them before, and they've caused quite a few surprises in this tournament. What are your thoughts on tomorrow's opponent?
magixx: Over the past year, we've seen Legacy pull off many upsets. They ended Vitality's winning streak at the Austin Major, and today they dominated Falcons just like they did at CAC. I also recall a match against MOUZ, possibly in Austin, where they completely outplayed them, though it might have been in another tournament.
But I think, if you're not well-prepared and haven't prepared for some of their plays, it's easy for them to expose your weaknesses. We've already seen them play many such games.
